WHO WE ARE
Leah Charity Foundation is a Christian organisation located in the Nakaseke district of Uganda. Founded in March 2017 by Habib Lutalo and Olivia Nakijoba (Meredith), both former students of Kiwoko School of Nursing and Midwifery, the foundation is committed to create a world where faith, compassion, and love can transform lives and bring hope, joy and dignity to the most vulnerable people in society
Recognising that many mothers at Kiwoko Hospital struggled with basic necessities—such as food, baby clothes, diapers, and infant formula—and often faced challenges in paying their hospital bills, We established this charity to provide support the most needy.
Our ministry also extends beyond the hospital walls. We support children by giving them access to education, follow up on mothers and children's health by providing health educational talks, outreach activities within the community, provide families with sanitation and hygiene awareness and we empower communities to learn new skills
HOW IT ALL STARTED
In 2017, while working on the maternity ward, I assisted a woman giving birth at Kiwoko Hospital. I asked her husband for baby clothes, but he made excuses. When I followed him, I found a dirty sack of clothes under a tree. He handed me soiled bedsheets, and I felt heartbroken. He cried, saying he loved his wife and baby but couldn’t afford clothes. This deeply affected me, so I asked the midwife if I could grab clean bedsheets from the hostel. She agreed, and I quickly returned with two clean sheets, some of my clothes, 5000 Ugandan shillings, soap, sugar, and pads for the mother. She cried and thanked me, and I told her to trust in God for provision. From that day, I felt compelled to help more patients in similar situations.
Romans 12:13.
Share with the Lord's people in need; practice hospitality.
We are blessed to bless.
